Relating - quotes from The Only Planet of Choice

Although I realise this post expresses a very controversial idea, one that has the potential to turn off at least fifty per cent of the people who read it, I decided to publish these quotes anyway.  I first read this book in 1993, the year it was published in the UK. As someone who was searching for answers, I was instantly intrigued by the book when I saw it reviewed in Kindred Spirit magazine. The book is comprised of a compilation of twenty years worth of channellings from extra-terrestrial beings called the Council of Nine. For someone who has always felt 'not of this earth', it wasn't hard for me to open my mind to the possibility that such communication was possible. It also seemed timely because I was feeling enormously pessimistic about the future of the planet and was in desperate need of some guidance that no human being was able to offer me and, since no religion had ever had 'the ring of truth', that avenue also felt closed to me. I have always felt that I am guided to the information I need when I am ready to 'hear' it and this book was just what I needed at that time. The information is delivered in a loving, non-judgmental way and, although not all of it holds meaning for me, the parts that do are powerful.  The following quotes speak of something that has concerned me for as long as I have known about the many ways in which one of the sexes is mistreated by the other and seems to come in answer to my passionate desire to understand why this should be so. I still do not understand completely, but what I have always felt is that women must have something very special for men to have fought so hard to control and subdue it for so many thousands of years. I believe that power is the creative power of the female. A power held principally by women but, as Tom explains, is also present in the male although denied and ignored. A power that has been feared, shackled and imprisoned, burned at the stake, drowned, raped, beaten, stoned, slaughtered, scorned, reviled and blamed. It is a power that is now awakening in the hearts of the women to be reclaimed and in those of the men to be remembered. Like the lioness of Strength, its raw creative power is being unleashed on the Earth, furious and wild. But its purpose is not to destroy as the corrupted male energy of the patriarchy has done, bringing the planet almost to its knees, but to heal, to rebalance and above all to create something new for us all.

Questioner (Palden Jenkins): I wish to ask about a statement you made in 1988, that "in the past, all power came from women." Now, could you expand on this, and tell us how did this change in history, such that women have lost their power?

Tom:  It is not "all power came from female", all power comes from female. It was not lost: it was taken, for control. The male had recognition that this was power, and by controlling it on a level of instinct, believed they then controlled power. This is why, also, in the brutality, the clubbing of women, physical or mental, they can then attempt to destroy that power, rather than understanding that male and female, interchangeable, may be two pillars that hold up the world.

Now you also understand that there has been a lash-back from those of female, and it is now beginning to come back into balance. Also, what was not permitted in the male was the identification of the energy of female that exists within them, for it does as a percentage, as a percentage of the male exists within the female. It is only when there is complete understanding of equalness, that then the world begins to evolve to its proper place.

In these times, in those countries not evolved - although you my think they are evolved - when they put less emphasis or love on a female child or destroy it, or continue to permit surrounding souls of Planet Earth only male vehicles for entering, then we ask how evolved are they? You see it is equal, the power is women, female, and it must be utilised by the male. And the male to be used in forwardness by the female. That is the partnership. Do you believe humankind will understand that?

Questioner (Irene): What has happened in modern times is that we have gone from a period of secrecy and control of the sexual act, done in the darkness, to rampant sexuality in the 1960s and '70s, to relative abstinence in the 80s, because it seems, humankind has not chosen to acknowledge any insight into this area.

Tom:  That is correct, and it is important that sexuality now be understood. Understand this: the sexual plague was not created solely from mistakes in science: it was also created from the consciousness of humankind to break its habitual pattern, so it may review itself. However, as in most cases with your world all things are overdone.

Irene:  It's also a story of emotions, and it's also a story of understanding those emotions.

Tom:  It is important to understand this, for the emotion in your bonding is the highest returning to the source.  It is the connection achieved on reaching completion, the feeling of oneness with the other and the unity with Creation.  This is the drive behind the male continuously looking for that other side of being, the female, to make this returning to Creation - but because of misunderstanding and misuse it is rare that this return is truly made.  Do you understand?

Irene:  It's brilliant. But what is the drive of the female?

Tom:  The drive in the female is to be given the power to create, and only when the female is charged by male catalytic energy is the creation formed.  You see, this sexuality of creating acceleration in the female is, on a subconscious level, an anger at the population of males for the bondage with which it has encapsulated the female - for in its unconscious the male knew that all came from the female.

The female has now awakened to the strength of her being.  This anger emerged through promiscuity, to say to the males "you will not control my most important element, instead I shall abuse it", rather than make a commitment to self-control.  It is like throwing it into the face, for the male had done the abusing in the past.

Then with the collectivity of minds this abuse by males accelerated out of control, and the destruction of Planet Earth was the logical outcome. It began an inward tendency of devouring oneself.

Humankind has brought about the breakdown in sexual relations itself, to stop its limitation and corruption of sexuality, through enforced abstinence and fear. Now it is time for sexuality to be brought out in true understanding, and for humanity to return to a sane understanding of its connection with creation, and for the returning to the light at times of coupling, to rejuvenate oneself.

Irene:  That is also the beginning of the acknowledgement that Earth is paradise?

Tom:  Only on your Planet Earth does this uniting come about. It is the ultimate unity. Yes.

Meditation

There are hundreds of Abraham videos on youtube but this one really resonated today because I feel like I'm finally getting it. I mean, I feel as though I now understand how to get myself into alignment. It is a visceral knowing; an experiential process rather than a desirable but abstract mental concept as it was when I first began to work with these teachings. I'm releasing the resistance consciously now. It's getting easier and easier every day. The evidence of this, far from being the manifestation of material things, such as Law of Attraction films like The Secret would have us believe, is something much, much better of which Abraham also speaks in the video. It is a feeling of lightness, joy, the heart open and the feelings free flowing. If something moves me, my eyes fill with tears. If something is funny, I laugh like a child. This honesty of expression and ability to really experience life is more valuable to me than anything money can buy. It is the ability to be present in the moment, in the body, in the physical, incarnate. To celebrate life in this dense, physical world.

Density. This sums up the heavy, restricting, slow energy of this world we live in. We are born into our little, fleshy bodies and we grow and learn how to move and coordinate our limbs that feel so clumsy at the beginning. We inherit from our parents our genetic predispositions and behaviours. Our first experiences of the world are through the energy field of the mother which we share with her until our own is sufficiently developed, our autonomy gained gradually over time. Sharing her energy in this way, our perception of the world is coloured by her emotions, reactions and thoughts. I am fully aware of the telepathic connection that exists between mother and child from my own experience as a mother and my memories of early childhood with my own mother. Getting my own feelings under control as a young mother had an instant positive effect on the mood of my infant son. The opposite was also true as, when I became tired and anxious, he would become fractious and difficult.

So, as we grow up, we learn from our parents, family and the community that surrounds us a view of  the world. A collection of beliefs that are learnt; rules, sayings, superstitions, truisms, cultural norms and a national identity. Layer upon layer of ideas and opinions that may not reflect who we really are or want to be.   Becoming conscious of these is an ongoing process. Being aware of how our beliefs affect our lives is a key to creating the life we desire. Like a computer running a program, we allow these thoughts and beliefs to run around in our heads, unaware that they are creating an energetic frequency that attracts to us the manifestation of the same. The principle of like attracts like. We are not talking about magnetism in which opposite charges attract and like ones repel, although the two are related. They are related because opposites are essentially just opposing extremes of the same thing. For example, a positive magnetic charge is the opposite of a negative magnetic charge but both are magnetic forces and they both exist on the magnetic scale not on the scale of another force such as gravity, for example. Essentially, our world is one of the illusion of polar opposites, of duality. A more complete explanation of this can be found here.

To test this theory, become aware of how, when we think a thought, it produces a corresponding emotion. It is the emotion that has the attractive force which draws more thoughts to it of the same frequency. For example, if you think about something that irritates you such as, in my case, shopkeepers who are grumpy and don't smile, more thoughts will be drawn to the first one. I might think next that the shopkeeper should be grateful that I chose to buy something from him and not another, which makes me feel indignant. Then I might think that, next time, I won't go to his shop etcetera, etcetera. Each thought is drawn to the last producing a increase of negative emotion that could spiral my mood downwards until I'm feeling really quite angry. Then I will be giving off a vibration that attracts similar experiences such as someone pushing in front of me in the bank which then produces more thoughts producing more negative emotion and on it goes until I'm having a really bad day. That is unless I become conscious of what is happening and stop it by realising that I don't need to think that way and decide to climb back up the frequency range by thinking a thought that feels slightly better such as, that I'm not going to let the queue-jumper ruin my mood, and then think another and another each time feeling a little bit better. Then the attractive force of the positive emotions begins attracting positive thoughts and soon I am in the frequency range of thoughts that make me feel really good such as what a nice, sunny day it is and how beautiful the colours are illuminated in that way and how much in love with my life I am. Then my vibration has risen and the next person I see in the street responds to my bright energy with a smile.

Sometimes, we struggle to find a thought that makes us feel better and then the thing to do is to say, "Whatever. It doesn't matter. This thing that has got me feeling so bad is not worth it. Not worth ruining my day over." And, seen in the context of the big picture, it is miniscule in importance and will be forgotten about in an hour, a day, a week. Remembering that all things are transitory and nothing is permanent. The best way, as explained in the video, is to meditate. Meditation involves stopping thought which many people find tricky at first. The key is to focus on something, as Abraham says, like a dripping tap or the sound of the waves breaking on the shore or the wind in the trees. Some people suggest counting backwards from one hundred or listening to a guided meditation CD. I usually focus on my breathing and direct my inner eye to the place in the middle of my forehead, the position of the third eye. When I am sufficiently relaxed I begin to see pulsating colours and feel a sensation of lightness, detachment from my concerns and freedom from the weight of my physical body. This is accompanied by feelings of peace, joy and elation. This is the moment I am what I refer to as the real me, free from the overlay of the personality, memories and life history that make up my identity. Eckhart Tolle calls this the watcher. It is the part of us that is like a witness to all the successes, dramas and events of our lives. It is our wisdom and our connection to God and all that is.

Going to this quiet place regularly, daily if possible, keeps us sane when the whole world feels, as it does more and more these days, like it's going crazy. It is the way to release negative thoughts that, like leaves and debris blocking a stream, create resistance in our energy field that interrupts the flow of our positive life force and, as a result, impairs our ability to attract the experiences we most desire. It shouldn't feel, as Abraham says in the video, like a chore. Just taking time out to breathe and quiet the mind makes a world of difference to our ability to deal with any challenges in our lives. Just like a person who visits their church or temple to pray and give thanks, meditation is a way of connecting with the spiritual aspect of ourselves that is the essence of who we are.

Escape

She lay face down in the grass breathing in its scent. Her exhalation was dry and scorched, her throat raw making her sob. The dark fire still burned in her chest, it's heat heavy crushing her heart.

She swallowed, drinking the moisture from the air.  She rolled over and gazed upwards. Relief permeated her as the sky above entered her eyes and filled her with blue light. The burning abated and she sighed in gratitude as her heart expanded. A minute passed and her mind cleared.

She must move.

Move away from the black hole in the earth that she had come through moments before. She didn't have long.

Her body tensed ready for movement but she did not stir. What was it that kept her pinned like lead to the earth?

Fierce colours clouded her eyes once more. Incandescent white hot yellow, blistering red brown and black, seductive and so dark it swallowed her whole. The heat in her chest flared, her heart jumped as she sensed the shadow return. She tried to push it away. She must run while she still could. She had fought so hard to get this far that she couldn't give up now. Panic rose up her throat and her mouth filled with a sour taste.

With a great effort she sat up and then breathing heavily she stood upright.  She glanced around her and saw she was in glade of cypress. White flowers grew among the grasses at her feet. An endless sea of pale asphodel flashed across her inner landscape. She blinked to erase it.

Time to move.

She turned and headed away from the hole in the ground to follow a clear path through the trees. The sun overhead lit the scene around her and showed the colours, shapes and textures at their most striking and vivid. It was her first view of her beloved Earth for many months. But she didn't feel joy. Why was that? All she could feel was the heavy weight on her chest and a dragging, pulling sensation from her solar plexus as though she were attached by a cord to something behind her. Attached to what?

She knew what it was. Her mind's eye was again covered with shadows, this time moving, blurred, gradually becoming more distinct. Ghostly figures wandering through the fields and along the banks of the river, stooping to drink the amnesic waters.  Fine, transparent sails swelling with a silent wind propelling the boats and their passengers through the waters to the islands of Elysium.

Her mind flew to another scene; three roads converging, at that place where the shades received their final judgment. Beyond that, a vast field of crimson poppies through which a granite grey road wound its way towards the palace on the horizon. Her mind covered that distance in an instant and stopped in front of the adamantine gates. The palace towered above her, obsidian black. A deafening grinding noise began as the gates slowly lifted. Her heart leapt into her mouth when a deep bellow came from within the walls and she heard the sound of powerful hooves and a thundering roar as the chariot came hurtling through the opening towards her. She froze suspended from her vantage point as four black horses bore down upon her at full gallop. The driver stood erect, black hair and cape flying around him, holding the reins in one hand as he drove his beasts on with a savage whip. She gasped as he passed through her, his blazing amber eyes boring into hers as though he could see her stood before him in her flesh, blood and bone body.

She tore her mind back to the sunlit world.

Her swift pace faltered then stopped. She couldn't breathe. The burning in her chest had grown stronger again. It spread to her throat, heat rising up her neck to her face as sweat broke out on her upper lip. Tears welled in the corners of her eyes and she let out a high-pitched moan as she sank to her knees.

She couldn't bear it. The pain was too intense. She was sure she was going to die from it. No one could tolerate this agony. She had to get away from here. She had to get away before he came for her. She hated him, loathed him with all of her being. He had taken everything away from her. He cared nothing for her. He saw her as a trophy, a prize and she despised him for it.  He was evil, manipulative. He had tried to trick her into eating the succulent pink seeds but she had seen through his sweet deceit. She would not surrender to his desire to keep her with him.

She stood once more and began to run but she stumbled as exhaustion crippled her and her head span. Nausea overcame her and her vision filled with expanding black circles until she could no longer see. She dropped to the ground and lay face up, breathing heavily until her sight returned.

Her inner voice was silent as she recovered her strength. Eyes closed, her awareness extended outwards into her tranquil surroundings. She listened and gradually sounds became more distinct. Birds chirping, insects humming, a soft breeze moving the leaves of the trees. The peace around her seeped through her pores, caressing, cooling, softening. She felt the tension release as she exhaled the heat from her lungs.

She realised something was different. She felt quiet, tranquil. The pain had diminished, the fire no longer burned inside her. Why was that? She contemplated the question for a while and then she knew. She had surrendered the struggle. She had stopped the battle that was raging inside her.

It was then that she knew she was in control. She could choose to feel the pain or not. She could choose to suffer or to be well, to resist or to allow, to hate or to.....

At that moment a huge tremor shook the earth beneath her. There was an almighty crack as the earth split open, gaping like an enormous mouth. From its dark cavity came four horses snorting with effort as they dragged themselves and the chariot behind them into the sunlight. The driver called the horses to a halt as he saw her now sitting a few yards away from him.  Amber eyes met hers, at first furious and accusing then softening, beseeching, beckoning.

She waited for a moment, then she stood up and walked slowly towards them.

A man confronts Abraham over the misery in the world

If you are not familiar with the teachings of Abraham, I will give you a quick explanation. Esther Hicks is a channel of a non-physical being who goes by the name of Abraham. If you are not familiar with channeling you might well be skeptical that such a thing is taking place. Therefore, I would recommend you put those doubts aside and just listen to the information and the wisdom that is communicated by Esther. The main idea that is put forward by Abraham is that we are the creators of our own reality, without exception. That most of us are completely unaware of how powerful we actually are and that each of us possesses the ability to create the life we have only ever dreamed about. I would imagine that most people would not be open to believing this. Those that do believe it have a personal process of re-learning or, some would say, remembering to go through because the world around them that they have grown up in has programmed them with a belief system that is very persistent, not least because it is being reinforced every day by the society in which they live. But when you open your mind enough to begin to allow this view of the world, you start to see evidence of the truth of  these teachings. Of course, this information is not new. It has been known about and passed down by the spiritual masters for thousands of years but is only now having a wider renaissance.

During this process, many questions arise. One question that is frequently asked is, "If we are creators of our own reality, why would anyone ever choose to be tortured, abused or murdered? Why would someone choose to live a life of poverty or pain?" These questions are very valid and I have asked them myself many times. The answer lies in the fact that we live in a world of polarity, of opposites. Happy, sad, good, bad, fast, slow, hot, cold, dark, light and all the shades in between.  Abraham calls this contrast. Our world is one of contrast and Abraham tells us that we chose to come here to experience this contrast for the expansion (evolution) that it would provoke in us. From our limited perspective this might sound incredible and difficult to integrate into our own belief systems. The following video is of an Abraham seminar where a man is asking these same questions and having the same difficulty accepting that this could be true.

In my case, I do not believe nor disbelieve it. It is one explanation that fits better than any other I have heard. I have asked many times why, if there were a God who loved us unconditionally, would he allow us to suffer? Why would he abandon little children to a fate worse than death of starvation or abuse? I asked myself if I believed that we were loved by a God or higher power and the answer came back as yes, unequivocally. Every cell in my body answers yes. And that love is who I am and what I am made of. So if I believe that there is a benevolent God, Creator, Source from which all else comes, why doesn't s/he step in and save us? That's where free will comes into the equation. We need to save ourselves. We've had some guidance in how to do this by individuals that we have sanctified and revered but often their message has been distorted or in some cases lost completely. Free will implies that we have power over our own destiny by virtue of the choices we make in our lives. For me it's not such a great leap to believing that we create our own reality.

So returning to the question of why people would create such awful awful experiences if they could choose, the answer may lie in the fact that the majority of people don't know they are creating their own reality and even if they did, many would not believe it. By not choosing consciously, they create by default. They are then subject to the will of others who have an agenda or they are swept along by the group or mass consciousness of their environment, carried along by the tide.
